Google Nexus 7 and Verizon FIOS

I use Verizon FIOS with a WIFI router. Can I connect my Google Nexus 7 to the network? I want to purchase the Nexus 7 as a Christmas gift and have spent 2 days trying to answer this question before I purchase one. Why is this such a difficult question to find an answer for.

All tablets should be able to connect with your wifi network with only a network ID and (hopefully) password. I can't speak for the Nexus 7 or Verizon FIOS as I have neither but all my phones have worked with every wireless router I've tried.

I have FIOS but not the N7 yet just a XOOM. But You will have no issue connecting it to the FIOS wifi router. If you have FIOS tv there is an app to use your tablet or phone as a remote (works great when the wife falls a sleep with the remote in her hand).

Thanks, OutOfPhase...when I checked the Verizon FAQ they listed all of the tablets that supported and instructions to get them installed. The Google Nexus 7 was not among them. There seems to be some sort of issue with Verizon not supporting the Nexus 7 although they had previously support the XOOM. I'm hoping someone will be successful in getting it running before I commit to purchase one as a Christmas present. Regards

Its probably not listed because the Nexus 7 is sort of new or they just never bothered writing anything up on it.

Technically, as long as a device supports Wifi and IP standards, it should work on a network. That is provided there is no tomfoolery with how Verizon implements access on their Wifi routers. Internet provider access points have been known to be pretty flaky sometimes.

I'm going to keep this thread alive because I got Verizon FIOS installed just last week, and haven't been able to connect my Google Nexus 7 to it. It's most likely because I haven't figured out how yet.

Prior to FIOS, I had Comcast. I owned my own Netgear 50 wireless router, and had no trouble getting the Nexus 7 to recognize it. So far, no luck with the FIOS router. I'm trying to research this via Google and Bing.

I posted a note about this on the Verizon FIOS forum. Hopefully, I'll get a response. But if anyone here knows what to do, and is willing to help, that will be great. Thank you.
