Google notifications on the screen?

How do I disable or turn off google notifications on my lg g6. There are so many settings I'm not sure what to do or where to turn this stuff off. I find it very annoying.

Right now a weather notification shows up and the pitsburgh football game score.

Where do I turn these off etc.

I wasn't receiving these but then I think changed the settings when an app needed this?

That's nice to know. Some forums I belong to are way too serious for me. Mostly the sports forums. I like more relaxed folk.
