Help Google Now and Persistent Tool Bar

johninga

Lurker
I am using Nova launcher with Android 4.4.2 (Kitkat). Until recently I could access Google Now by touching the centre of the search bar - all my cards came into view. Now they don't. I can only access Google Now by adding a different Google search bar from the widgets - then all is OK, but this search bar is NOT persistent.

I just want the one persistent search bar with access to Google Now . .

Anyone help?.

The persistent bar is part of Nova Launcher. Before, it used to act simply as a shortcut to the Google app. Now it acts as it's own search function, since Nova added it's own integrated search feature where it can search the phone contents as well. So basically, no you can't have a persistent search bar from Nova Launcher that goes straight to cards because Nova removed that function.

Your options are:
1.) to add the Google widget and accept that it's not persistent
2.) Go back to an older version of Nova and mail the developer to bring back the option you want
3.) If you are using the Prime version of Nova, you can add a specific gesture, like maybe two finger swipe up (works on any homescreen) to access Google Now and the cards.
