Google Now: how do you remove notifications for some things?

I don't want to turn off all notifications, especially for things like calendar appointments or reminders, but it's annoying to have the weather or traffic show up in the notification tray/bar when it's already on the widget. These aren't things that I need notifications for, unlike the more timely things that I need a real notification for.

If you have the newer google search, you can click on the 3 dots menu thing for each notification and you should get asked questions that will allow you to disable it.

I think you can also just fling the card off to the side and it shouldn't come back.

Nah, flinging the card off will only get rid of that particular notification. It wont stop more notifications of the same type from popping up.

Flinging will also remove it from the widget, which I don't want. I just don't want it in my notification bar/tray, and also I don't want it to show up on the "preview" screen of the S4 when I wave my hand over it to check for notifications.
 
Unfortunately there is no permanent way to remove those from the notification
tray (weather, traffic) without completely disabling the cards.

Magic wand icon below the cards.

Google Now Customization screen, select Everything Else

Tap weather for home and choose no.

Tap weather for work and choose no.
 
Not that I'm aware of, but then again I like having the weather show up on my notification pulldown so I wouldn't of looked for an option to disable it.

I do hope you find a solution though. It's a PITA to have something show up on your phone in a place where you don't want it.
 
I am not sure if this setting will remove the tray notices but worth a shot. Odds are if it does work it will disable all of them and not selective ones.

Under Settings/Accounts - Click Google.

Click Search then Notifications.

Uncheck "Show updates from Google now"

Oh, I see. I thought he did mean he wanted to stop getting certain cards. I get what he was asking about now. :)
 
Has anyone discovered how to selectively turn off notifications for the latest Google Now update? This was possible previously, but I can't find the option with the latest update. As others have mentioned, I only want to receive notifications for Reminders, not for weather, traffic, sports scores, etc.

What's at the bottom under your cards now? Is the settings and magic wand icons gone?
 
I do have the settings and magic wand icons. In the previous version it was possible to long press on the notifications setting and then choose which cards you wanted to receive notifications for. I can't find that type of detailed settings in the new version. It seems that notifications are either all on or all off.
 
Yeah it really stinks, only certain cards I believe allow for options of receiving a notification, I know that I was able to have the weather card without the notifications for it.

However, all sports cards are either on or off.

Hi,

I've been searching for an answer on how to stop the Google Now weather Notifications from appearing in the notification bar but still keep the cards as I want to see them when I choose to go into the Google Now app. This thread seems to be asking the same sort of thing but still remains unanswered so I wondered if there was any progress since the last post almost a year ago?
