Google now S3 UK on 3

Can someone tell me how Google now is supposed to work?

I have an unrooted, standard S3 on the 3 UK network, with official JB update on.

I hold down home key, pick the middle icon, and speak something, but allI get are web search links, is this what Google Now is? whats so good about it then? if this is all it does then I will just use the normal browser.

Am I being stupid, am I missing something? I thought it had "cards" or something? what am I supposed to do? is there any setting?

Depending on what your setting is, you might have entered in to 'S Voice' instead of 'Google Now'. What is the background colour of it?

If it's black then it is S Voice.
If it's white then it is Google Now.

You can access Google Now by finding 'Voice Search' in the Apps menu. You may have got confused with both services.

You're partly right. The voice search does just search the internet. To get the cards to pop up you need to set which ones you want first. To do this long press the middle button, tap the middle "g" icon then tap the left menu key this should bring up the card settings. Then you can chose which ones to show and how often you want them to appear.

To add on to that on the settings there is a phone search option just tick which apps you want to search. Hope that helps you.

Some questions you ask will give an audio reply, other will link to a web page. Ask when is the queens birthday and you should get audio reply to test it.

It was switched off, I had to do the menu button and enable as you said thanks a lot.

So to use it, you have to hold down home, select middle button,and then ask it something. If so not really sure what difference is to S-Voice, apart from it shows you in card format sometimes?

S voice is just samsungs own version of google voice search. It's incorporated in touch wiz, you can ignore it if you don't want to use it.
