Help Google Now useless in UK?

Hello all,

I have had a Nexus 7 for months now, I am as confident as I can be that Google Now is configured correctly.

Every card is enabled, all settings active, language is set to English UK (English US makes it very difficult for voice rec to work, because, well, I'm not American), I believe I have followed every piece of advice I can find to the letter - I have scrolled through every option in all Google application settings to ensure that data collection is enabled wherever possible.

Google Now doesnt display any cards except route information, weather and sport results despite having every other card option available.

I cant figure it out, and I am incredibly frustrated and turning to you fine folks in an attempt to prevent myself throwing my Nexus against a wall :)

Maybe I am missing something obvious, but I need help.

I've had mine for almost a year now...and its exactly the same as yours. I get weather, football scores for my team and route info. No movie news, events, etc.

That's pretty much all that has ever worked on mine. Recently the nearby events started working.
 
yes the same here and in order to get the voice activation to work i need to set it to US English (if there is such a thing)
 
My Google Now has been giving me nearby phots when I pull inti the car park at work and has on occasion given me a recommended restaurant to visit but it seems to be very random. My routine is pretty much the same day in day out yet GoogleNow doesnt seem to have picked this up.

Ive read that in the US it gives deliveries etc from your Gmail account but mine never showed up in Google Now.

Maybe its all going to roll out in an ad hoc type way now that the IO dev thig is over with......only Google has the answer. ... (LOL is it worth a search ?)

Mine shows upcoming appointments and travel times if the appointment is remote. If there's heavy traffic, it reminds me to leave early. On the same note, it recognizes locations that I frequent and shows me travel time to those locations.

It shows events that are happening around me, and seems to refresh quickly as I change areas.

As mentioned, it shows the scores of my favorite teams/sports, and shows upcoming games if applicable. It always shows a semi-accurate weather forecast.

It's never offered to track my packages, but if I stand next to a bus stop, more often than not, it shows the route details and bus schedule.

That's some of the stuff it does without me asking.
 
I'm a sales rep and I use Google Calender as my calender. If I put the address of my customers in the details section of the event, Google now will display a reminder when it's time to leave, a summary of where I'm going and why, traffic conditions and how long it will take to get there.
It's a novelty to be fair and I wouldn't rely on it to run my day but it's a sign of things to come I'm sure.
It's alot more active on my Nexus than it is on my Note GT-N7000 *shrugs*
