Help Google Now

Just got my Droid Turbo 2. When I swipe up from the bottom instead of bringing up Google Now it brings up a browser. I've tried everything.
Any ideas?

Is there a reason you don't want to do it with a voice command? One of the GREAT things about the Turbo and Turbo 2 is that they can always be listening for your key phrase without you touching the phone.

Thom..I'm referring to Google Now cards, weather, stories etc. On my Moto X it worked by swiping up from the white circle at the bottom of the screen. Voice works great.

I do not use them.

Do you have them enabled?

Go to the Google app
Tap the three bars at the upper right
Tap Settings
Tap Now cards
Tap show cards​

The voice command options are cool and handy in some situations... but when in public they aren't so much without looking rude to the others around you. In meetings, restaurants, perhaps a theater and similar locations you want something more discrete.

OK. The home screen has 3 buttons on the bottom. The one on the right brings up most recent apps. The one on the left is the back button. The one in the center is a circle. I want to program the white circle so when I press it and swipe up it loads the Google app with the Now cards, weather, stories etc. like on the Moto X.
Any ideas?

Did you enable cards in the Google app (#4 above)?

When I hit the button it gives me the option to assign the button to an app for that occurrence or all occurrences. If Now cards are enabled are you getting the options?

Solved:
I'm using Nova launcher. The home button will take you to the default (home) screen IF you are not on the home screen. In gestures I assigned the Google app to the home button. So, now if I'm on the home screen and take the home key it takes me to the Google app.

I just set a PIN (normally none).
With screen locked I sad OK Turbo (my phrase) PIN,
A screen came up and a verbal request of enter code.
I spoke the PIN numbers,
It unlocked the screen.
