Google Phone Groups

So there seems to be an issue with adding contacts to groups I see. I can't add any and read others had similar problems with no solution.

I wonder if this is a Android or Google issue???

O well.

When I open Contacts, how do I add contacts to a group? At the top of the window I see Groups already with a title of Phone & Google. If I choose Phone and Add, it always bring up the phone's speed dial type of contacts, such as #bal, #Data etc. I never see an person's name.

When I choose Google title, and click Add, it doesn't even have the button to Add a name, just a search box.

What's going on, any ideas/suggestions?

Thnx.

Alright when you go into your contacts (and this is just a new contact for the example) you should see the following

Where it says groups default tap the selection and you'll be able to choose what group you wish to make the contact a part of like this

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

When I go into Contacts, even to add a new person, there is no Group label showing. I'm not sure why. I'm using GB 2.3.6.

Ok, I see something going on. When I open Contacts, New, I get prompt, Save contact to: Phone, Sim, Google, Phone showing my gmail address.

The two phone options offer a Group and sim & google do not. I always save all contacts as google so it will sync the best.

Now I'm not sure what to do, but I don't really need groups that bad either.

What do you think of this?

Thnx.

Even my google synced has groups. Not sure why yours wouldn't. I'm running 2.3.5 myself so maybe they stopped that? But I wouldn't think so

I think it something to do with the Google Phone option. Just plain Google doesn't have a Group option but the Phone with Google does.

Interesting and thnx again.

Oh, you mean the google synced with phone allows it? That's all I use... That way if I change devices, all my contacts are right there.

And no problem glad I could be of some help anyways

After playing around with gmail & contacts on the PC, I was able to find how to create Groups and add contacts. It was a chore to find it though.

Thnx.
