Help Google Photos Auto Back up

Hi, just a quick question about Google Photos.

1) Once my photos have been Google "Auto-Backed Up" can I then delete them from my device without losing them from auto back up? i.e. by putting my microSD into my laptop and deleting all photos from there, will Google Photos then retain the photos after realising my phone no longer has them?

Yes, it should.
I have photo's that backup to Google, then I remove them from my device to save memory, and they are still on Google.
