Google photos question

Why does Google add falling snow to pictures I've taken of snow on Google photos? There may be more effects I have yet to find also. How do I shut stuff like this off?

One more question, why don't they merge Google Drive and Google photos into one big cloud service built in to one? Maybe have lots of settings to help manage everything in an intelligent way.

Yeah, kind of annoying isn't it?

Open your google+ account in chrome and under the Google+ logo in the upper left there will be a drop down menu. Open it to settings and scroll down to Photos and Video. There uncheck both Auto enhance and Auto awesome. Google will leave your images alone now.
