Google Play Music/Mog NOOB~~ Help Please?

Hey phandroidians,
Gotta a question.... I've been using Gtunes for what feels like an eternity. Just 2 days ago while getting some jams, I was prompted to purchase an "unlimited membership" as I have reached my maximum downloads...... So, figuring the fun is over and it's probably time to start growing up and putting some money into a good collection of music with proper name tags/albums/album art.....

Anyhow, so I started searching best apps (yes I read the sticky too)... And I have MOG and Google Play Music apps already on my phone. I started up the free 7day trial of MOG, but immediately found an issue.....

When playing music normally, I just use the default "Music Player" app when doing so in the truck or whatever. But I found after downloading a song on MOG, it doesn't show in Music Player???

So, thinking that maybe Google Play Music would be the better option seeing that this was a problem I downloaded the "free song of the day" to see how it worked. Yet, the same thing is going on. I even highlighted the song and clicked save on device. Yet, I'm still not seeing it when I go into my music player.

Can anyone please explain to me where the music is and how I find it? Or do I actually have to have that app open to play the music that I download? I don't see that as beneficial if I'm paying for it??? Or am I just confused...

I think the issue is that both of these are streaming services so the songs aren't stored on your device.

I'm not a user, but for the Google-sourced songs, in the latest version of Play Music I believe you need to get to My Library then tap the words My Library (toward the top of the screen) and select All Music.

A complete PITA but then again, just about everything about Play Music is

Well, I played with it a bit more yesterday. I downloaded the music manager and uploaded all my tunes to Google Play.....
I see now that all of it is stored on Google Play's server. Now this all seems like a great idea, but what if you don't have reception? Fortunetly I have unlimited data, but that doesn't mean I'm always going to have a signal.

I also downloaded Amazon mp3 downloader, as I've purchased music on my PC from Amazon and had just uploaded it into my phone thru kies. I would just feel uncomfortable purchasing music with Google Play only to have it SIT on a server.

I also found there is a "make music available offline" little tag, but you have to go thru and select them that way and apparently the cache onto your phone. Yet still, I don't see them in the default Music Player.

What is your recc for music downloads? Or do you use a seperate player? Thanks for your help

I share your reservations about streaming - I just completely fail to see what uploading everything to a server then downloading it again every time you want to listen adds .. apart from a whole host of potential problems

But then, I don't feel the need to carry 5,000 tracks (that I will mostly never listen to) around with me ;)

I don't actually download music but I do download lots of podcasts and use iTunes for some of them. I then simply use a USB cable to drag and drop them to the phone. KISS - works fine for me.
