Google Play Music

In the Play Store, the app description is not very detailed for the app "Google Play Music"? Can anyone tell me how this app works such as dowloading music? Can I download music to my device for offline listening? If so is the pricing fair? Would like to hear from someone with the app. I just bought an sd card for music and if I have to pay just to stream music online, its just not worth it. Iheart radio and Pandora are free. Just wondering if i can download what i want and what the rate is in pricing?
Thanks

Google Play Music can be kind of difficult to describe, but I'll do my best.

The app itself is free, and it's free to upload songs (up to 50,000 now I believe), which you can then also stream (for free) or "pin" to your device (again, for free) which essentially downloads them into a special cache specific to GPM (they won't be available in third-party apps).

You then have two options for expanding your music library within GPM:
  1. You can purchase (outright) songs and albums just like you would from iTunes or whatever. The pricing seems comparable to other music-for-purchase services, and there are frequent sales. You can view the music available to purchase here: https://play.google.com/store/music

Going this route, you are able to download the non-DRM MP3s of purchased songs from the web (I think there's a 3-download limit), via the GPM PC app (unlimited downloads), or the GPM Android app (again, unlimited downloads). You could copy those MP3s out to your SD card to play them with other music apps if you'd like.
  2. You can subscribe to the Google Play Music All Access service (or whatever they're calling it this week), which is a flat $9.99/mo fee: https://play.google.com/about/music/allaccess/#/try-it-free

While the subscription is active, you can add an unlimited amount of music to your library for no extra cost. You can also "pin" songs/albums/artists to cache them locally for offline playback. (Again, though, you can't do anything with third-party players).

I'm personally a pretty big fan of GPM:AA; I like having a near-infinite amount of music at my fingertips.

BTW, you can try out All Access for 30 days free to help you evaluate if it's right for you. :thumbsupdroid:

Hope this helps :)

I used the subscription service a while back for a couple of months and I could download stuff to my device for offline streaming no problem.

When you sign up, they give you 30 days free trial (I think), so you can try it risk free and if it doesn't do what you want/need, you can just cancel.
