Help Google Play Store Gets Stuck on "Installing"

Daddyroid

Android 4.4.4 running on Moto X (1st. generation)

For some reason, I cannot install the popular Swiftkey keyboard app from the Google Play Store. When I press on the Install button, it seems to download quickly and starts installing. That's when the trouble begins. The Play Store gets stuck on "Installing," meanwhile the download arrow is flashing in my phone's notification bar. This goes on for hours and the only way to stop it is to restart my phone.

I'm fine with Google's native keyboard, just thought I would try out Swiftkey. But not if it's going to cause all this trouble. Never had a problem like this with any other app.

Is there a solution?

Hmm, odd indeed. Just for kicks, can you login to the PlayStore on your computer and install Swiftkey to your device that way? Just to see if it's successful that way:)

Thanks for your reply. I tried installing both ways (from phone and computer) with the same result. It might be something in my copy of Android that's causing the problem, although my phone is just 8 months old. I'm not going to do a factory reset just to try out Swiftkey.

No search results on the Swiftkey website for sideload, side load or .apk (need at least 4 characters to search.) I don't download from third parties.

EDIT: Just now tried again to install from the Play Store. Was "installing" for 15 minutes before I finally stopped it.

You can try clearing cache of Google play store from settings .. Go to settings >> Apps >> Choose play store and clear cache and data

SOLVED: I had to clear the caches for the Google Play Store and Google Play Services, then uninstall them, then reboot my phone. I had to do this several times in a row. After the third or fourth time I rebooted my phone, Swiftkey magically appeared in All Apps.
