Google Reader

I just realized that the News app that comes with my Evo does not sync with Google Reader. That seems weird, given that Android is made by Google. (I think the app is made by HTC, not Google, but still...)

What news/RSS reader is good and will sync with my feeds on Google Reader?

I'm not sure yet whether I want a widget on the home screen or if I will just put an icon and go to the app when I want to read stuff, but any reviews on an app's bundled widget is helpful too.

Thanks!

Try FeedR, Used it alongside NewsRob for a while and finally went with FeedR. Has a widget too if that is of interest to you. It is paid though, but not much.

This is what I use.

I follow 300 blogs, and FeedR is the only I've found that is usable. 2 bucks for something I use every day isn't bad.

Heh, I ditched gReader yesterday because the latest update added adverts to the bottom of the screen. Have been looking at FeedR and have a couple of questions before I buy it:

How's the sync with Google Reader? Does it actually work properly? (gReader had issues sometimes.) I mean, if I 'Star' an item in FeedR does this sync to Google Reader?

Can you disable automatic updates and only sync when I hit the 'Refresh' button in the app?

Does it combine all your feeds into one stream or do you have to open each feed separately to read items?

Well I'd like to be able to update my feeds using my home wifi before I leave for work in the morning so I can read them on the train without downloading anything over the (patchy) 3G connection. The web interface is perfect but it doesn't cache anything locally.

It integrates completely with the Google account you have attached to the phone so it's seemless and quick. It actually gzips all the feeds so it downloads over the network faster. It's really efficient and syncs perfectly.

I tried NewsRob and problems with it marking items as read. It was extremely annoying so I went to FeedR and haven't had a single problem. Marks everything as read, syncs perfectly with Google Reader, and the format is perfect. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to be able to read all the articles under one tag vs clicking on each site's feed. Other than that, it's worth every penny.

Very impressed so far, love the "only auto-update when wifi connected" option. Would like one big list of all the feeds as you said.

Well worth $2
