Google Sky Map 1.5.2 resets my phone

Gday everyone,

I'm having a strange issue with Google Sky Map on Froyo. It seems whenever I try to upgrade from 1.5.1 to 1.5.2 through the market, the phone just mysteriously reboots in the middle of installation. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm using a Nexus One. My phone's rooted and it was modded, but now I'm running a google-provided copy of froyo (i.e. flashed with a rooted-signed-frf83 file [or something like that]).

Long shot guess: My phone doesn't like apps being installed to the sdcard (since this is what 1.5.2 purports to do).

Hi,
Yes there does seem to be an issue with some phones and their sdcards. It's not affecting everyone as far as I can tell. Other people have reported a mysterious "error -18: unknown reason". You are quite correct that this affects Sky Map 1.5.2 because it tries to install itself to the sdcard by default.

The workaround is to remove your sdcard and install Sky Map, then put the sdcard back in. Some of those with error -18 have reported success after reformatting their sdcards.

Thanks Jon, I couldn't find any mention of this problem anywhere and was starting to think I caused the problem! I'll try your suggestion.
