Google Sky Map - Help!!!

Google Sky map is not working correctly.

The display remains stationary when I slowly rotate from North around 360deg.

When I move the phone vertically from the horizon upwards, the constellations change,as expected.

GPS is enabled and gives my correct location when Sky Map starts.

Has anyone, any suggestions. I am an astronomer, and bought my Hero because of this application.

My phone details are:-
HTC hero
Firmware 1.5
Build No: 2.73.61.66
Software version: 1.0.0.A6288

So up/down works, but not left/right? You might want to try to recalibrate your compass; I need to do that frequently.

It's not working correctly. It's working in elevation, but not in azimuth. KlaymenDK explained it easier, up & down is fine, but left/right does not work.

I am in the process of downloading "Compass" from Snaptic, and will try to reset my Hero. Thanks for your suggestion KlaymenDK

As you suggested, I installed Compass, and calibrated my Hero. Now in Sky map the display changes as I move left or right. perfect.

It look like your suggestion has solved my problem.

Google sky map is now working perfectly. I solved the problem, with the help of this forum.

Solution. I put my phone case with a magnetic clasp in the bin. No stray magnetic fields has solved the problem.

I had a case for my Galaxy S the magnet was in the flip cover and flipped away from the phone enough to work. My Galaxy S 11 case has the magnet behind the phone, not good for the compass in the phone.
