Google Talk SMS

I like chatting within Google Talk, but the thing that is missing from the Android Application is your SMS contacts. I added a few of my family members to my chat as SMS (just their phone numbers), and I can chat with them via chat for me, and SMS for them in any browser.

Is it possible to send SMS via Google Talk on Android? I assume it's possible because it's possible on a PC, but why hasn't Google added the support? I guess the carriers wouldn't like it much, but that shouldn't stop Google.

Bump. Sprint SMS has irritating delays, and it's faster to use goggle talk to text people at least on my pc. Would like to do the same from my evo.

I'm thinking that Google Voice can come into play here. I've tried a bit to accomplish this on my WinMo phone while I wait on the Captivate.

Maybe this thread will provide some thoughts.
