Help Google Voice and Hangouts

Hey everybody,

I've been using Google Voice for years now, recently started using it with Hangouts because I moved my mobile number over to Google Voice and no longer have ANY service provider (was on Verizon). It has been wonderful to not have any phone bills and still be able to have my number. I've been making and receiving calls, and texts just fine on all 3 of my mobile numbers that are under Google Voice.

Where I am running into a problem is that the Hangouts and Hangouts Dialer app on the Note 4 (Verizon, NOT rooted) is almost worthless when it comes to ANYTHING, but making/receiving calls/texts. It takes 4.2 seconds to load from a cold boot, and even once running in the background it's 1.8 seconds to load. It takes 3.4 seconds to load from the main Hangouts screen, into a text message, and even worse 4.3 seconds AFTER the app is loaded to switch over to the recent calls screen. In addition 2.3 seconds to load up the contacts page within Hangouts.

I've attempted all the basics, restarting, pulling the battery, resetting the device to factory defaults, memory card inserted and removed, on a charger and off the charger... Nothing improves these times. The built in Messaging, Phone and Contact apps from Samsung all load in under a second.

If there is no solution to Hangouts and Hangouts Dialer, are there ANY other apps that will allow you to make and receive calls/texts via your Google Voice numbers and NOT via cellular connection? I should specify that I am exclusively running WiFi, no cellular antenna within the device is being used... I am always in Airplane Mode with WiFi turned on.

Searched Google and the forums for answers and can't find anything related to this issue or an alternative to Hangouts. All other Messaging apps (Whatsapp, EvolveSMS, HelloSMS, HoverChat, Textra SMS, Hike, 8SMS, etc) try to send the SMS through cellular data and thus FAIL 100% of the time. Mind you not a single one of these apps has load time issues. They just work as intended and load near instantly. I also hate how some of these "Messaging" apps work like AIM, MSN, ICQ or whatever and require anybody you want to talk to to have the same app as well, making them worthless.

Any help would be appreciated.

what if you were to use google voice and skype in your wifi situations to keep using your google voice numbers?

and with skype, you can use your google voice or mobile numbers as caller ID numbers for skype. just a thought.
