Google Voice Question

Hi all,

I was curious of some of the functions I can use google voice with my droid. I wanted to disregard my verizon vmail and use g.voice. Is this possible?

On your phones tab in Google voice click the link to activate Google voicemail for that phone. It gives a code to enter from the phone and it's done

Once you have set up GV with a google number download the app (it's free) and it basically take the place of VWZ's visual voicemail, if you've given out your GV number instead of your cell number.

From Google's webpage for Voice you can configure your Verizon line to redirect conditional calls (missed, busy, etc) to go to Google's Voice mail instead of Verizon's. The downfall is that it may use your airtime minutes during the time of the call forward... the time that the person is leaving the message. So after you set this up, a person can call your Google Voice number (if you create one during registration) or they can call your Verizon number and Google Voice will be the voicemail service.

Yeah, if you use the code GV gives you for using it for your cell phone VM it's basically a NABT (No Answer/Busy Transfer) which uses minutes from your plan.

I have a GV question, I signed up using my cell number. I thought it was possible to have SMS text sent to my voice account so I can view them on the computer at work or is that feature only with a GV dedicated number?

I think that's only with a GV-dedicated number...
