question about texting using apps other than voice itself.

i dont care about texting through google voice exclusively so that is not what this thread is about...

my question is this: I love the pop-up feature of SMS Handcent. Are there any android integrated features I am missing by not using the stock messaging app? anything in there that is worth not using SMS Handcent and losing the pop-up feature?
