Hello, 1st post here.
just got HTC EVO on sprint.

I have my normal sprint number 201.xxx.xxxx
I also have a google voice number 203.xxx.xxxx

I would like messages for calls coming into my sprint number to go to my sprint voicemail, and calls to my google voice number go to Voice voicemail.

This phone is the only phone i have set up to my gvoice acct.

If i activate google voicemail on my phone, either number dialed goes to my google voice vmail, if deactivated, both numbers go to my sprint vmail.

Is there anyway to fix this? its driving me nuts, the reality is i want seperate vmails for each number.

SO check this.
If i reject the call coming in to my gvoice number, it goes to my sprint vmail.
If i just miss the call, it goes to a default gvoice greeting, not even the one i have recorded.

WTF??
 
I also noticed that if I reject a call it goes to my carriers voicemail, and the missed calls go to google voice like they are suppose to.
 
You can't have two VM's to work correctly and I will explain why. Its hard to have two voice mail boxes since your mobile phone doesn't have to ring for the VM to pick up. EX. when they phone is on, it may take 4 rings to get into VM but when its off, it goes to VM right away. There is no function in google voice currently to discern when your VM is picking up. That is why they added the option of one VM box for google and your mobile numbers.

You can try to set the time for your VM to answer in different increments for each VM box. Such as having the sprint VM box answer later than your Google Voice. So when people call your google voice number it will go to that VM, and if people call your sprint number, it will go to your sprint VM. The only problem is if your phone is off, the sprint VM will answer right away anyway. Not a perfect solution.

You can add call screening so you will have to press a number to accept calls from Google Voice, so no google voice calls will go into your sprint VM. The problem with that is when your Sprint VM picks up, it will have the automated message from google voice automated call screener to press a number. So you will get two VM's. Still not a perfect solution.

The only other option I can think of is just having the single Google Voice handle the voicemail for both phone numbers and just choosing a different greetings for callers.

To answer the other user about activating Google VM for your mobile.
You can set up Google voicemail with any mobile forwarding phone.
To do this, click Settings at the top right of the page. On the Phones tab, click the "Add Google voicemail to this phone" link to get started.
So you will have only one voice mail box for the forwarded mobile numbers that you activated.
Currently they officially support:
Alltel, AT&T, Cricket Wireless, MetroPCS, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon

I find google voice mail more flexible than the Voice mail from the my mobile provider and unsure why you would want two VM boxes.
It takes trial and error to figure out which is best to use but I don't think you can use two VM box's on a mobile phone effectively.

If I am wrong, please correct me but this is only from my own experience.

Im guessing i would have to have Gvoice handle all of my voicemail, which is ok with me, however i cant seem to figure out how to set it so that different greetings are used for different phone numbers. ie my sprint number goes to greeting A, my GV # goes to greeting B. I can only set it up by groups, and need to add memebers to those groups, unfortunately i dont always know whose gonna call....do i have this right?
 
Whoa, let's get things straight here.

1. All calls to your GV number will go to GV voicemail.
2. All calls to your carrier number will go to your carrier voicemail.

It's entirely possible to use both at the same time. Just don't activate Google voicemail on your phone if you don't want it (you're working against yourself).

If your Sprint VM is picking up all messages when GVM is deactivated then you need to have Sprint increase your ring length. After X time, GV should stop ringing your phone and should send calls to your GV number to GVM. What's happening is that Sprint's VM system is picking up too early. I had this problem with my office voicemail system for a while when it started to pick up calls earlier than it should have.

You can set up custom greetings in GVM without using your carrier's VM. Just set the default greeting. If anyone's not in a group with a custom greeting (or a contact with its own custom greeting), they'll get the default greeting.

That's definitely a potential issue.
 
I set up my Google Voice where I have known people go to one greeting and others to the another greeting. Right now they don't have a Number specific greeting. Google Voice still is in beta so hopefully they will add a lot more options when it is released to the public.
