Help Googlemail/Gmail problem

Has anyone managed to solve the googlemail/gmail issue on the Galaxy Portal?

I changed over to gmail last week without realising the implications for Android. Then being unable to use the Market, I read the various advice online, switched back to googlemail and cleared all the data in my google apps to allow me to set up my google account from scratch on my phone.

Unfortunately now, the phone won't let me log in with either googlemail or gmail - every time I try, I get an error message suggesting I contact customer care.

Has anyone cracked this problem on the Galaxy Portal???

Backup your contacts/calendar to Gmail if you can. Then do a factory reset.

Is it not possible to add both accounts to the Accounts & synch settings. i have several accounts here, (mine & my girlfriends), and they all get recognised. This 'change to gmail' thing in the UK is daft, as if you keep your googlemail.com account, you can still tell all your contacts to to use gmail.com, and you will still get your mail - the two are interchangeable, so theres no need to change over at all.
