Got a new Wii Black - anyone successfully "mod" to play DVDs or Music CDs?

I have looked and found a ton of info, but it's a bit confusing.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am also not sure if the instructions are meant for the new Wii or the original.

(XBox360 that I had...it was the third replacement in 9 months and it broke ((non modified)) so to the Wii I went.)

If you want something to play DVDs that is more reliable than a 360 (mine has been running for the past 2.5 years...) then get a PS3, so far as I know you cannot get a Wii to play DVDs.
