Got my Maxx HD tonight - price and warranty

FYI for those reading this forum and waiting for a deal - I read that Best Buy would price match Amazon so when they agreed I jumped at the chance to upgrade from my DINC original.

This Maxx HD is my first phone purchase through BB @ $174.99. However, I don't see a $30 device upgrade charge - does that come through the VZW bill?

I took the $10 warranty since it's free for 30 days, but are there better warranties? I reviewed Squaretrade and they have a $100 deductible taking their cost from $125 for 2 years to $225 and BB is $179 and no deductible for the same period. Any experiences with BB warranty?

You have a manufacture warranty for a year from the date of purchase. I learned this with my Galaxy Nexus. One day it stopped working, I didn't have insurance, I took it into a VZ store, they said it was still under the manufacture warranty and they shipped me a new one and it was here the next day. Save yourself some money and wait a year.

If your still set on getting a warranty I've always went with Verizon's. BB claims to have a pretty good one but I got the extended warranty on iPod Video a few year ago and the battery stopped taking a charge. Now when the guy sold me the warranty he said if anything ever went wrong with it all I needed to to was bring it in and they would exchange it no questions asked. That was far from the truth. They gave it gave to the Geek Squad and they had it for a week to try and fix it before I got my new one. So if that ever happened with a phone it would be a huge inconvenience.

As much as I am not a fan of BB the warranty *now* is good, before it was horrible. My OG RAZR went out and I turned it in, got a temp phone from them (with refundable deposit) and in 3 days had a replacment phone. But it does not cover loss, and I think the VZW one does.

I went to try this today, because today is when I could get my upgrade.

I walked up to the lady with the clipboard, and told her I wanted to use my upgrade. Then, I told her I wanted to price match. She said "we don't do price match today". I resisted every urge to hit the clipboard out of her hands, and said "Oh, well, forget it then" and walked right out.

Stupid black friday bullshit.

Guess I'll try again tomorrow.

I called the closest Best Buy to me (about 60 miles) to see if they would price match Amazon, and after about 15 minutes of checking, they said they would. The guy did tell me they wouldn't price match on Black Friday.

While we were in the Verizon store, my wife got a Razr HD, her first smartphone. She was able to get a $50 rebate for installing the Isis app on the phone along with $10 in her new Isis account which she was able to use to help pay for a car charger.

I guess if you buy the phone from Best Buy, you can't get the warranty through Verizon? I probably should have used my $50 loyalty discount and the Isis rebate (which is now expired) to get the Razr Maxx HD while I was in the Verizon store.

Yes you can, but best buy will try to sell you the one they have. I would still call 611 after you walk out of the store to confirm you have it.
