GPS and Screen?

I'm just about ready to upgrade from my Infuse. There are a few questions I have about the S3 before I get it, though,

1. How well does the GPS work? That feature does not work real well on my Infuse and I'm hoping for better GPS on my next phone.

2. The reviews all say that even at maximum brightness, the S3 is not as bright as other competing smart phones. How mu h of a problem is this likely to be? Can you use the phone outdoors?

Thanks for your help.

gps is great!!!! very quick and very accurate. i see no problems there.
as far as brightness, i use auto, and its dimmer but easily adjusts. no problem seeing at any time. now on manual brightness, cranked up is very bright.

neither of those should be a concern with this phone.
(came from a galaxy s2)

I have to say that in bright sunlight it can be difficult to see the screen. The new dropdown brightness slider comes in handy - you can turn it up until you can see it but it's still not glowing brilliant. But the only phone I've seen that was vivid in those conditions was my old Blackberry Curve.

Agree that the GPS is really quick. I came from a HTC Desire that sometimes took 1 minute to fix a location. This phone takes approx 4 seconds. Yes, four seconds. Amazing. :)

Dim screen while using GPS in my car window was one of 4 return factors for me. Google maps use light backgrounds and the road are light also. I just couldn't see what I wanted to see. I wear sunglasses while driving. I kept my DX. However, due to the lack of phone choices out there, I might get the developer S3 when it comes out.

What's cool about gps is using it through s voice. I live near Pittsburgh and to navigate to a sports even in the city like baseball I just open s-voice and say "navigate to PNC Park in Pittsburgh PA" and she automatically brings it up on the gps. Just have the satellites turned on first
