Help gps can't get a fix

Bascy

Newbie
I'v been experimenting with the gps functions of my HTC magic this evening, but haven't been very succesfull.

It looks like the gps can't get a fix, not even after leaving it outside for more than 15 minutes with free line of sight into the air. When i look at the result of GPS status application it doesnt seem to see any of the numerously available satelites.

Anything i can do to make this work better?

Maybe you have a dodgy handset? You should go into one of the Providers stores and activate the GPS in the Store and compare if their both the same or if you may have a Dodgy Unit :)

Check Settings/ Security & Location / GPS - maybe is it disabled. Which GPS status application are you using?

Settings checked, they are ok
I'm using "GPS Status" from EclipSim.

This morning i had the thing laying beside me in the car for almost an hour. It got a fix after about 10 minutes, for a few minutes, than all detected satellites disappeared from the display, and not one ever came back

I find the farther north I am the less the GPS works for some reason.

Yet the Nav in my vehicle will still work perfect.
