Apps GPS location testers - recommendation ?

Hi.
This is what I am trying to test:
On a good day, I read that a Samsung Galaxy can return an accuracy down to 3 meters (9 feet), but even if I were to stand very still, it can still wander within a circle of probability of how many meters?

BUT that exceeds GPS WAAS accuracy. So I am dubious.

Unless of course, the GPS chip has build-in WAAS? Again I am sceptical.

I want to try out a few GPS location tester app on Droids for accuracy, using devices from different manufacturers.

There seems to be a few apps out there, can anybody recommend a reliable one that you have used or heard that someone has used?

Personally I tend to view GPS as something that's helpful as opposed to something I rely on. As there are so many variables involved with ground-to-satellite connections I was under the impression accuracy was also a variable.

After some googling, that's how I see it too.
I read somewhere Raytheon developed a $20000 mortar shell with GPS guidance. The marines ( army?) tested it and 3 rounds managed to land within 10meters of target at a distance of 7000 meters.
I think they are serious..

Interesting article, I was taken for a ride by GPS when I first settled in SOCAL , so I can emathise

My GPS watch is accurate to within 10 metres.
