Gps question

About two weeks ago I got my first android phone (samsung vibrant) I got out because I had my iphone stolen. My question is this... I had asoftware that would locate my phone if the gps was turned on however it always used too much battery (same on any phone) so it was turned off and can't be located. I don't want the same thing to happen to my android so is there a distaste out that will track it and force the gps on remotely when I need it? If not can any developers add it or provide even a separate app for this? Thanks

it actually belongs in the applications forum since the OP is looking for a general app......

moved it there

Yeah...as mentioned before, WaveSecure is worth taking a look at. It's not free, but it seems to be well-regarded.

WaveSecure Mobile Security - Android app on AppBrain

Note that is says 7-day trial.

Apparently it has a way to turn on the GPS remotely, though it needs root to do that. Take a look here:

Could be worth your while. Check it out.
