GPS River Location

I have searched for GPS apps...anyone use one that shows locations on water? I am an avid river fisherman and woud like to find an app that I can enter starting and ending points, then have it track my current location betweent the two points...

or

Coordinate it with Google maps and have it track my locations on a river or lake...

Can anyone help?

Google's My Tracks can record your track. Maverick and OruxMaps also has that functionality and can use more maps than Google can, as well as function without cell signal with a little advance prep.

Backcountry Navigator uses free to download topo maps and should be able to do what you need. It works without cell service as well.

I'm using Navigon, CoPilot & iGo Myway for navigation.. never tried it on water but I don't see why it would work any different from point to point. Maybe you should give it a shot. These apps aren't free but they also don't require any data either.
