GPS Speed Readout?

Maybe I missed it, but when I am using the google maps app, I don;'t see any indication of the speed I'm making over the ground. Am I just missing this or, if not, is there a GPS app that shows speed over the ground while using the GPS?

thanks!

Three apps that show gps speed include:
SpeedView
GPS Test Plus
GPS Status

I'm sure there are others.

I haven't heard of any. A dev could put an icon in the status bar with current speed displayed pretty easily, but has it been done? I guess you could always suggest it to one (or more) of the existing speedometer app devs.

I like GPS Status the best...

GPS status is cool if you want a compass etc. It's awesome for geocaching.

Speed View is much better if you want to turn your phone into speedometer for the car etc.

GPS Test is primarily what it sounds like, a GPS test. I'd rather use GPS Status to test though, it has pretty much everything Test has, plus the compass/spirit level/satellite location display thingy is cool. They seem to be the best in the market, but none of them have a status bar speedo.

I'm looking for one that incorporates speed into Google Maps, if that is possible.
You'd probably need to find another GPS nav app. I have yet to see anything that adds features a-la-carte to Google Maps Nav and the ability to do so would be in high demand given the various features that people find lacking in the app.

I've read the Copilot Live does but I can't seem to find any sort of confirmation on their site.

Google My Tracks will show you the speed and everything. It wont do it at the same time as showing a map, but its just one button click while in the app.
