GPS with maps on phone

I know this isn't exactly an Evo question so much as it's an android question, but I upgraded from the hero to the evo. I was wondering if there was a GPS app that I could download to my old hero that doesn't need a data connection to bring up the maps. I have my hero just sitting around as a glorified MP3 player with a web browser and would love to use it as a GPS for my car also. An app like this would also come in handy for when you're lost out in the middle of nowhere and get no data signal for the maps in the GPS.

There are actually a number of them. You might look at this... Android Sat Nav Apps

Also, check out Maps (-) and Locus. I've not yet used them, as I'm not putting a lot of time into maps right now since I have a Vibrant with the accursed GPS problem.
