Grandfathered unlimited - Adding text make me lose it?

I'm trying to get text for VW but I am currently grandfathered for the unlimited data. If I had texting to my contract, will VW consider this to be a change in the contract and remove the unlimited data?

If so, is there any way around it?

EDIT: I went to try and add texting with success and during the 'Confirmation' page, it still showed that I would have unlimited.

If anyone cares to confirm this will hold true once I hit accept, I'd greatly appreciate it

You should be fine. Texting has nothing to do with the data plan. If you are worried about it call customer service and have them make the switch for you.

I have done what you are asking and did not lose my unlimited data on two of the five phones on my family plan.

The other three do not have data
