It's a rather low spec device, only 8GB internal storage, 1GB RAM. I suppose it would be aright for basic browsing, and maybe multi-media streaming use, like Netflix.

Seriously, they are asking you to pay them for an advertising platform. "With special offers" indeed. This is why, no matter how slick or cheap the hardware is, I won't buy a Fire tablet that isn't easily rooted and flashed with an AOSP rom.

It's the principle of the thing (for me, anyway.) If a company is going to use me as an advertising platform, then they need to compensate me appropriately. A one time discount on an already cheap piece of tech isn't going to fly. It's the same reason I wouldn't use online bill pay when my bank was charging a fee to do so. Why should i have to pay to make their job easier?
