greenify

So i downloaded the greenify app but i didn't realise that you won't get any push notifications while those apps are in hibernation. Is there anyway you can change this? This would mean i would have to actually check the phone to see if someone texted me on my psuh notification apps. :(

If you've suspended or hibernated the apps from actually running, they can't give notifications, because they're not active.
This app would of been so much better if the push notifications happened. Is there a better battery saving app? This phone eats my battery like nothing normal.

What app actually is it, could be a problem or bug with it, with consuming excessive power when it's supposed to be quiescent? Also what phone have you got, make, model and Android version. Facebook can apparently be a battery hog, but I never use that.

I leave a couple of apps running in background so can receive IM notifications instantly, and have no problems at all with battery life, WeChat and QQ on Oppo R7 PlusM, battery ususally goes for about 2 days.

Grindr, Facebook, and messenger. Those are the hungry apps on my phone. I have a Sony Xperia Z3. Those are the apps i use the most on my phone so i guess Greenify is pretty much useless in my situation.

Don't know the first one, Gridr, but have read on here many times that Facebook and FB messenger are definitely notorious as battery and resources hogs. That's just how they are, until if FB decides to fix them or whatever. If you go suspending them with Greenify, they just won't do anything at all, i.e. no messaging notifications.

If you have a Z3, have a mess about with Stamina mode and add the apps you want notifications from to the white list.

Or have you tried that already?
Yeah I've already done this and the battery is still draining like crazy.

Bcrichster: it says I need to toot my phone to do this and I have no idea how this is done, is this gonna be alot of hassle?

Is greenify better than DU Battery Saver? Frankly I think my battery went down faster without DU. Haven't tried greenify tho
Greenify is only good if you want to conserve your battery, you won't get any push notifications from your apps which is the biggest let down as this would of been the best battery app ever.

Look up the Root thread for your device and see what it takes. Root is purely your choice and option

You should uninstall DU Battery Saver immediately! Anything by DU Apps is complete snakeoil crapware. Please see this:

@EternalChaos72: Greenify should work on FB and FB Messenger without rooting your phone. Don't try rooting unless you are confident you know exactly what you're doing.

Nah, when i shut down those apps i actually have to go into the app for the message to pop up :(

This might be a good time to apply the KISS rule...

You could just access FB with a browser. Works about as well as the app. Then you could uninstall FB and skip rooting and Greenify. I don't FB, but I think you could still get notifications via text.

Messenger and grindr are included aswell as battery whoring apps though.

My wife, who does use Facebook, says she kinda prefers using Firefox for Facebook. She says it's faster than the Facebook app. No doubt, the Facebook app is a morbidly obese piece of crap.

She refuses to use FB Messenger. Got her started on a rant peppered with colorful language. Says she just leaves comments or uses other communication.

We can't say anything about grindr.

IMHO and hers, you're making this more complicated than necessary. But do what makes you happy.
