Group Chats / MMS messages "clogging up"

Spartan26

Lurker
Phone: S8
Carrier: Verizon
App: Textra (MMS Behavior: System)

Whenever many MMS messages start rolling in they all "clog up" and stop coming for upwards of 20 minutes. So for 20 minutes all MMS messages will stop coming and after 5-20 minutes I'll get them all at once. Sometimes the messages will then come in out of order. What is this cause of this and how can I fix it?
Thanks - Spartan

Might have to do with your signal? Is this happening at home or in different locations? I've had similar issues on previous phones but on T-Mobile

Since you are using Textra, have you tweaked the settings? Like use "legacy" instead of "system" or whatever it's called
Yes, and legacy seemed to make things worse actually. On legacy sometimes I would straight up never get MMS messages or be able to send them. No matter the settings however, I can always send and receive SMS

Well, since you are on Verizon, that is the only thing I could think of. I've been on T-Mobile/Metro for 5 years and have never had Verizon so I'm out of ideas.

Is this a new-ish thing?

I have Textra and Verizon and have no issues BUT my sister has the Verizon messaging app and has not been getting all her SMS/MMS. She's on a few group texts that I'm on and she's not getting them at all, it's only been for a few days though. I've been meaning to call Verizon...

It's been happening for 2-3 months now. What are your exact MMS settings and or other settings that could be relevant?

Screenies of my Textra settings below.

Maybe try clearing cache, at least in the app (settings/apps/Textra/clear cache/force stop). Do the same for the stock messaging app just in case.
