Group texts from iphones

I've researched the heck out of this topic, but am having trouble finding answer that makes sense. . I had an iPhone 5s, then switched to a Galaxy a couple months ago. My group-texting friends are iPhone users. I was a recipient in a 5-person group text last night and only one of the person's texts came through to me. I was lost and had to text her individually what the thread was about. Irritating, to say the least. The most logical answer I've found is that Apple's iMessage is the culprit. I have already removed my iMessage from my phone number since I had an iPhone before. Has anyone figured this out? I (gulp) have had thoughts of going back to the iPhone due to this. I don't want to!

iMessage is the culprit.

You can try a different messaging app (Hangouts, Textra etc.), that helps. The stock messaging apps have trouble with this. If they are sending the messages as iMessages though you may never see them.

It's truly annoying. I still can't get it through my family that 'green is good, blue is bad'.

Thanks. I was using Textra and got the same results. Blah. This group of friends might be willing to turn off their iMessage option. I'll see what results I get there.

Not sure if they can remove you from iMessage on their end or not?

It's odd though, sometimes I get everything and sometimes I get nothing from them. One sister never never signed into it so no trouble there but the others, ugh. They refuse to turn it off because it's not their problem. Umm. Yes, it is!
