I have a Laptop, a tablet and a phone and like to keep the contacts and calendar on all three in sync.
On the Laptop I use Thunderbird and the tablet and phone are both running Android 4.1.2.
To sync them I use Owncloud running on hosted web space.
Everything works smoothly apart from one item - the Contact Groups.
I can add a new contact in Thunderbird or in Owncloud and at the time I create them I can allocate a 'group' which syncs to the android devices so I am able to view contacts in groups on the tablet and phone.
The problem I have is that there appears to be nowhere to allocate a 'Group' to any new contact I add on my phone or tablet.
Is there any way anyone knows of to allow me to
- add new groups in Android and/or
- allocate a contact to a group at the time of creating them in Android???
Or is this a fundamental flaw in the Android contacts system?
