Groups in Gmail not working

I've recently switched from a Windows 10 laptop to an Android tablet, using Marshmallow 6.0.1.

I used Chrome, Gmail and Contacts on the old machine.

Now, Gmail and Contacts work fine for individuals but when attempting a new email to a Contact Group, including when I accept the option to select addresses via Contacts, the Group name is not recognised.

Any advice?

Hi, although this may be device dependent, on my HTC M9, group emails can be sent by going to my contacts, selecting the group then selecting 'Group action' followed by 'Send group mail'.

Gmail is then offered with the usual selection choice.
