Help GS3 Mother board swap

I have a GS3 with a good ESN and a good IMEI however the rest is busted up. I removed the motherboard (still works) and now I have a question. If I install my good motherboard into another GS3 with a bad ESN, will that resolve the bad ESN issue so I can use that phone? If not, why are people selling phones with bad ESN's and IMEI's if they can't be used?

Thanks

The IMEI is on the motherboard, so it should work.

Why are people selling phones with bad IMEIs? Plenty of parts are still usable.

Jake- did this work for you? I cracked my screen, then when trying to fix the screen I cracked the digitizer and LCD- messed up big time. But I did swap my board with my daughters (no longer used phone, just to play music) and it works so I was wondering the same thing. I see phones with bad ESNs sell for about 70$ on ebay, so I was thinking if I get one and swap the board that may be a good fix.

Thanks

jaymzwayhas chosen to with draw my answer upon my own request for the facts of original answer could or may lead to suspension of his account

Kind of a grey area there jaymzway. Not 100% sure of it myself, but take a read thru this now-closed thread from several months ago:
http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/845744-bad-esn-imei-legal-way-fix.html
thats what I was meaning was legit way of doing "meaning you would have to own both phones" so everyone original poster of thread please ignore my answer to your question w/out upset I have high respects to you but I feel I will have to withdraw my answers to this.

I did not want to risk suspension of my account but did not want to release any input on it just hint to the higher up's for approval ... so to help clear my intentions over this topic. I will comply w/out hesitation and w/out any probs. however I will use better future judgement over my actions for the safety of others..... and I now know what I must do w/out further guidance of higher up's. this is clearly through my decision thank you and good luck to you good sir

<----- is asking of mod's to help clean my post's thank you!!!!

thanks for the reply, it looks like I may have wondered into an area I didn't realize I was wondering into. This may be hard for most of you to believe, but I guess I didn't realize a bad ESN was most likely from a stolen/lost phone. I was actually thinking maybe the board went bad- which of course made me worry why?? if dropped in water then more than the board could be bad.

Seems like I can get a fix that will definitely work for about $110 or $120. Plus, what is the return policy for buying a (most likely) stolen phone???

"Sure I will take it back, I will stop by and pick it up, when will you not be home?"
