Help GS3 (SGH-T999L) Charging Issue

KIL3RP

Lurker
Hi I'm new to these forums so if I'm lacking any details, please ask away :)

Okay. So I've had my GS3 since mid-October , and I've had no problems until almost a month ago. My phone simply will not charge, my dad has the same exact model, and can charge on chargers with no problem, that I cannot, such as a knock off car charger. And whenever I try to charge my phone with the charger that came with my phone(and pretty much any charger), it loses energy instead of charging, all the way down to 0% Even with my RAM running at 0.80GB or less. HOWEVER the only charger that actually works (at a very slow rate) is my old charger for my HTC Inspire 4G. So if anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it!

Extra details: Under warranty, No water damage, no battery bump I think (did the spin test, didn't really spin easily), I noticed with some chargers when I apply some force into it the charging port it will charge for a second or two.

The charger port seems to have a bad connection. Since it's under warranty, have the phone replaced. (Back up all your apps and data since they won't transfer them for you. Helium will do that. You'll have to download a file to your computer for it to work since you probably haven't rooted your phone.)

The default is to only back up the data. Tell it to back up the apps too. Your contacts, if you entered them as Account contacts, should be at Google Contacts so the new phone will pick them up as soon as you put in your Google account. If you have a lot of texts you want to save, SMS Backup & Restore will do that.

Thank you for the advice. I will got onto backing up my phone pronto. Do you think EVERYTHING that came with my phone, including charger, and SD card has to be returned to?

When you file for an exchange of phones, they tell you what you need to include.

I'd assume they won't send you a new SD card, but rather just the phone. I could be wrong, but file for an exchange, and see what they say.

Whenever I've done this sort of thing, it was return the phone only, keep everything else (battery, sd card, etc.) But who knows if things have changed?

Thanks, they just told me they'll be sending me just the phone. No back, no battery, no SD Card. What can I do to make it as if I never swapped phones?

Well, you're gonna lose your apps. But transfer most things (pictures music etc) to your SD card. As far as contacts that should sync with Google. So really, you're gonna have to reinstall your apps and that should be about it. Which usually they sync with Google too.
