Gs3 to note 10.1?

I've been trying to connect my s3 to a note 10.1 but not having much look. They can't find each other. Could it be because my s3 is on 4.3 and the note on 4.1? I've managed to connect them through airdroid but I want to use allshare. Is there another app I could use.

I think its foxfi and something else. Google tether . But with 4.3 foxfi might not work. I think I did it with gigerbrad or 4.3.1.
