Ok, so now that I have your attention, I need your guys' advice.

I ordered my 32gb GS3 from Sprint online. Just as expected, my phone came in this past Wednesday.

Here's where it gets weird, the next day, I get another package and a second GS3!!!

It was not ordered twice, I only paid for one phone.

My question is, can I sell this free phone?

I plan on holding on to it for about a month in case Sprint realizes their error but is it possible to sell it after that without consequences for me or the person I sell it to?

I guess my main concern is what will happen once it gets activated.

There used to be a law about this. Anything you recieve in the mail, solicited or not, is yours to do with as you wish. I don't know if it is still valid.

On the other hand, it is clear this was a screwup by Sprint and you are planning to profit from thier mistake - ie stealing.

your choice.

So if a bank gave you extra $ back when you cashed a check your saying you would keep it ?

Hmmm. I would hold onto it for at least a month and see if I was billed for the extra phone. Then I would run an esn check and see if it was clean.
Karma is whatever. If Verizon accidentally sent me an extra phone...for what I am paying...I would throw karma to the wind if it was clean. But I am heartless and cold haha

Aah, I knew the morality aspect of it would be an issue.

If I had ordered it from a small mom and pop shop, then I would return it. A couple of weeks ago I was at a bar and the bartender gave me too much change back. I let her know and returned it.

We're talking about a huge corporation here. I doubt anyone is going to get fired over it and it won't make a dent in their profit. If they contact me about it then I'll return it, otherwise, I'm seriously considering selling it.

It doesn't justify it but I've been with Sprint for years now and have paid them thousands of dollars in that time, albeit for a service they were providing. I'll consider this a rebate.

So please spare me the whole karma/sin talk. I'll sleep just fine at night.

I just want to know if the phone would be clean once someone tried activating it.

Keep it, these phone companies are always trying to get more $$$ out of us so when there is an opportunity, take it.

Exactly!

So you knowingly got a product you weren't supposed to get (and you know it wasn't a freebie). Nope... return it (or at least make a proper attempt to).

Too close to theft to be discussed on these forums.
