GS5 construction

I don't know about the rest of you, but I like and prefer the quality plastic construction of the GS4 vs the metal construction of the iPhone 5 and HTC1. I think the trade press is nuts for making a big deal of the "superior" construction of the metal phones over the plastic of the Galaxy series.

So I am not sure what to think about the next generation in the GS series going to metal.

It may be no big deal. OTOH, could it mean the end of replaceable batteries and SD cards? If so, that would be a huge negative for me.

Moved your thread to a more appropriate forum. Hopefully being in the Samsung forum you'll get replies from more people. ;)

I too prefer plastic, but I wouldn't place any faith at all in that article. Clearly there are a lot of bad reports going around when they flip flop like that.

HTC One feels amazing. I wouldn't mind getting a Samsung device with a similar build. The plastic on the current Samsung models feels cheap. If your going to take out your battery out switch your memory card, it feels like it will break.... Holy crap, will the s5 have a built in battery and no sd card slot?

Hey! There may be good news about this after all!

Samsung fans likely stuck with a plastic Galaxy S5 after all

But I hate their characterization that fans will be "stuck" with plastic. I think that's a huge plus!

This is a huge disappointment for me! The feel of the HTC One is really nice. I might have to skip the S5 and wait for the Note 4. But I also heard another rumor about a possible Galaxy F series which could have a metal frame. I guess will have to wait and see.

And yet another link to the trade press that disses the quality plastic construction of the Galaxy S series.

Even if samsung go with a metal construction it does not necessarily mean that a removable back cover will not be factored into the design!
Remember the Samsung WAVE? That was a metal construction and felt very high quality and still had a removable back cover the swap batteries and insert an Sd card

I believe (and I don't like it), all manufacturer's are moving to non removable batteries and no SD card support. Samsung will probably have 2 lines of phones - metal and plastic. (I prefer polycarbonate/carbon fiber construstuon) ...I will continue to buy phones WITH memory expansion and user swappable batteries for as long as I can...
