Help GS7 Edge Battery Life Drainage

BearBoss

Lurker
Hello, I recently bought a GS7 Edge a few months ago. The battery would last insanley long, even with constant use. Recently, I noticed how the battery would drain, even not in use. I had left it at 100%, with no apps open, and returned 9 hours to find it at 30%... My battery report reads that Andriod OS and Andriod System are killing the battery. I always close my apps, so I doubt its that, and I do not have any suspicious apps which could have virus'. What could be the problem? I have a weird feeling its my charger. I went to china and blew out my original. So I bought a chinese one at an official samsung store. Could it be the charger? Thanks..

I don't know the answer either, but sometimes my S7E will not be charged in the morning off my old old charger. I do have a streaming baby cam app on all night, but it usually keeps up.

But looking at the battery info in the settings doesn't make any sense either. What does yours show for battery usage?

I give it a restart after it starts doing that and it seems to behave for a few more days or weeks.

I posted a similar thread and since I wasn't able to ascertain what was causing it, I did a factory reset and my battery is back to normal.

same issue. New Phone,, S7 edge - also bought an S7 plain

we bought two phones, a galaxy s7, and a galaxy s7 edge.
they BOTH have identicall settings, as far as I can determine (I even had them both at the samsung booth at BestBuy) -
the EDGE screen is turned off.
BUT, the EDGE continually has the ANDROID SYSTEM eating up power, see attached, both the CPU TOTAL and THE STAY AWAKE are always increasing clock time.

image references -
See PDF file
first two images, reflect the NON-EDGE phone, minimal CPU usage, even after about a day of being on, and has good battery life left.

next 2 images, reflect LOTS of CPU usage, and tells me to change to a lesser power-intensive location service, EVEN THOUGH it is set the same as the non-edge phone

NOTE, BOTH PHONES ARE AT GPS ONLY, for LOCATION, which makes the Edge's "change to power saving location" message confusing

of note, just after recharging, I was going through APPS, and found KNOX to be using about 2% of battery within 1 hour on EDGE, and ZERO percentage on non-edge

ADDENDUM, LOCATION IS AT GPS ONLY< for BOTH PHONES, which makes the Android-OS message for the EDGE very confusing (change to
I turned knox off, on edge, to test; it DID slow down battery drain somewhat, but still decreasing at a percent or two every 15 minutes, even with nothing running

I've CLOSED ALL apps, I've deleted cache, etc.
PLEASE help me figure out what is doing this, so I can get extra battery life out of this.

These are brand new phones, and I am VERY FRUSTRATED at lack of info on web, the poor drain of battery on this EDGE phone.
PLEASE HELP. WE had Galaxy S3's before, they were good, and these phones are good, BUT the drain on teh edge is unacceptable.
thanks

NOTE - just doing factory reset is NOT the best option. Too manyh settings, passwords, etc, get lost; even with samsung's SMART BRIDGE (or whatever) backup program

Thanks for reply
re: LOCATION method
Actually, they are BOTH set for GPS ONLY (see the PDF, for the "Location" tab.
The CONFUSING part is that the EDGE is telling me to use a "power saving location method", despite that the next page showing the Location Setting is showing GPS ONLY (unless I'm missing something)
Indeed, when it WAS on with bluetooth and Wi-Fi, it DID use power.
then, somehow, after changing multiple settings (went to Best Buy, to their SAmsung rep), and worked with both phones, we got them to stop eating power, but this EDGE is back to eating power with the Android OS.

if you notice anything else in this, for me to do, PLEASE let me know, or any one else's feedback is appreciated also.
this is NUTSS !!!

thanks for reply.
re: LOCATION - indeed, it IS confusing.
AND, actually, that "use a power saving method..." has NOW disappeared. but still eating power. but NOT as much as hesterday. I am working with the various apps; I will try DISABLING them one by one, to see what may be doing this. It HAS to be somethiing that is running; all these phones with this issue can't possibly have something wrong with them. but android/samsung SHOULD have something to SHOW what is using the power; not just a list of about 50 things lumped under "android OS".
I have posted this to samsung, to see if they ahve any hints also.

yes, pain in rear end.
i am disabling LOCATION permissions of many of teh newsfeed apps.
AND, many of those apps, when you go to remove a permission, state "this app is for older version....."
so even the apps can't keep up

see my NEW thread on KNOX usage, not sure if this is part of it, but this phone has 16% battery use over 4 hours, from knox.
My non-edge has NO battery use from Knox.
