GTA IV: Will I have to start again?

I was looking into using some tweaks to enhance the game, so I had to downgrade the version. However, there was an error, and as I then wasn't able to play the game, I verified the cache and all was well.

Now however, I go to start up the game, and there isn't any save game data?!

The only thing I can think of causing this was opening it from the SSD, whilst it is still installed on the HDD ( I assumed this was the first time I have done so, especially as it had to go through first time setup)

Help?

Edit : the game works fine on Windows off the hard drive.

I know you may have your "tweaks" installed, but did you try re-downloading the game?

I have no tweaks installed.

And no, I havent tried re-downloading it. Soon, I'll be wiping the hard drive that it's on, and will have to do so anyway. :D

On the newly formatted hard drive, with a restored backup of the GTA game, my save games still won't load. I've tried copying across the save game folder, and even tried the gamesavemanager backup I made.

I'm gonna try and redownload the game, and then add in my save games, but apart from that, is there anything else that can be done?

According to this site, GTA IV save game transfer...possible? ,

Theres another folder that contains data I need. I dont have a copy of this folder, but I do have a Windows backup of the Windows in which GTA worked. Would I have to restore this backup in order to gain access to it?
