HandBrake help for beginner

Well if you put a dvd in a cd drive, thats your first problem. Second, you need to rip the movie to your hard drive first. You can use a number of programs, DVD Decrypter, DVD Fab, DVD Shrink, etc.

That may be It, I guess. The PC I'm using only has one drive for discs. I guess it won't read DVDs, only CDs. I thought it would as it is the same place I put my Garmin software disc into and it read that fine.

So is the drive on your PC a CD or DVD drive?

Your Garmin software disc most likely is a CD.

It isn't that the drive can't read DVD's, it's that the software can't DECRYPT the DVD. That's what the programs suggested by sitlet do...

HandBrake can't decrypt copyright protected DVDs on it's own(probably because of DMCA bullshit). You must install the deCSS libraries so HandBrake can decrypt the copyright protected DVD. How you do this depends on what operating system you're using. Usually it just means installing VLC.
