Handcent SMS and Skype Mobile are ALWAYS ON! How can I turn them off permanently?

Hi guys,

It's good to have a Droid forums! I have a question, I've been adjusting my droid eris settings to save battery time. I installed the Handcent SMS to replace the SMS default application so that it does not stay on all time, but every time I check my phone with Advanced Task Manager Killer the Handcent SMS and Skype Mobile are ALWAYS ON.

What can I do to turn them off permanently and thus save battery time???
Answers will be highly appreciated.

You're not saving any battery life by killing them. Let them reside in the background.

Really? I thought SMS connection was a big battery drainer, as mentioned in other posts. I'll see how it is affected then.
