Handcent SMS notification

So im using my Samsung Vibrant and I downloaded Handcent and everytime I get an SMS and check it, I noticed that I still have a notifiction saying i have an unread text, even though i have clearly read the text. Is anyone else getting the same problem as well? I tested it on another Vibrant and same problem. Same with ChopSMS

Have you disabled the stock messaging app's notifications?

Go to Apps, Messages, Menu, Settings and disable the stock app's notifications.

Also, try removing the 'automatically retrieve messages'
setting
