I am an English teacher living in South Korea and I bought the Samsung Galaxy S. I would have thought it is the same as what you lucky folks in the rest of the world can get but there are some funky hard-coded things that the Korean telecom and/or mfg have done.
I installed Handcent SMS as I like the interface/fonts much better. But I can't seem to turn off the default messaging app. I've read the other threads and they say to turn off defaults on settings->applications->all->message
but that option is not available on my phone. I can't even uninstall the default SMS app. Moreover, the two seem to be using different databases - if I don't catch a message and my screen saver is on, it will never be seen my handcent and it's trapped in the old SMS message lists and can't even reply via handcent.
Anyway - any hope for getting the default SMS app to back off and let Handcent do it all?
Thanks in advance,
Marty
