Hard Drive Transfer Problem,

Hi,

I have recently built a new PC and installed windows 8 Pro. Everything is running fine however I am having a problem with an Internal HDD that I have transferred from my old PC,

After installing it inside the new PC it shows up fine,

However when I try to access the folders in the HDD it tells me I dont have any read or write permission. I cant even access them as administrator.

I tried changing the owner of the folder to my new PC but couldnt get that to work either.

Is there a way I can do this?
 
Do you have enough room on the Win8 HDD to backup that 2nd drive's files to it? If so, you can use a linux live cd to move the files from the old drive to the new one, then format the old one and move the files back.

There might be an easier solution though. Other will chime in. :)
 
thanks for the advice but i managed to sort it,

Used the advanced options in the security tab to take ownership of the folder and all its subfolders :-)
